Welcome to the Air Force Association's D.W. Steele, Sr. Memorial Chapter of Northern Virginia (Chapter #239).

This chapter, named in the honor of an outstanding AFA member and local community leader, is the oldest and largest chapter in Northern Virginia. Its membership is drawn from a large geographical area within northern Virginia and the metropolitan Washington DC area including the Pentagon and Bolling, AFB. Our members come from both military and civilian ranks - on active duty and retired, from the aerospace industry, businesses, schools and the community at large.

Our chapter members work very hard to be the best and are extremely proud of their contributions to AFA and AEF. They continue to serve on committees, they run special events, and they mentor new volunteers - turning them into future AFA leaders. We invite you to become a member of the AFA and this chapter. Join the rewarding fun! Watch this site for our regular activities.

This year, the event theme is Growing a STEM for a Stronger Tomorrow, a topic that couples the Air Force Association's and George Mason University Virginia Serious Game Institute's collective ingenuity and legacy of supporting opportunities to shape America's post-Millennial generation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). During this day-long summit we will present national security challenges faced by America's defense organizations from today's tech advancements and how they will affect our future.

We will discuss and identify best practices of bridging critical STEM gaps in gender, race and socioeconomic arenas that affect America's future workforce. The conference will foster an environment to develop training ideas to advance opportunities for a stronger workforce in America's STEM career fields.

This conference is open to government, industry, academia and students who want to learn more about the challenges of today’s tech on America's national security and what is being done to shape America's future opportunities to bridge critical gaps in STEM to be able to deal with it.
